IWD: Namibia Makes History 

Namibia recently celebrated the inauguration of its first female president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, on its 35th Independence Day.

Lucia Witbooi also recently became Namibia's first female vice president, marking a milestone for gender equality in Africa.

Nandi-Ndaitwah, a veteran of SWAPO, spoke of leadership based on competence and merit in her inaugural address.

Namibia joins a list of African nations with female leaders, including Ethiopia, Mauritius, Liberia, and Malawi.

The continent has seen women rise to presidential power, inspiring hope for further gender barrier breakthroughs.
